Tribute to Achyuta Potdar
Renowned actor Achyuta Potdar, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of a strict professor in the film 3 Idiots, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 91. He breathed his last at Jupiter Hospital in Thane, where he was receiving treatment for health issues. His final rites are scheduled to take place in Thane on August 19.
Before embarking on his acting career, Potdar served in the Indian Armed Forces and later joined the Indian Oil Company. His passion for acting led him to the film and television industry in the 1980s, where he enjoyed a prolific career that spanned over four decades.

Potdar's filmography includes over 125 projects in both Hindi and Marathi cinema. Notable films in his career include Akrosh, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai, Ardh Satya, Tezaab, Parinda, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Dilwale, Rangeela, Vaastav, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Dabangg 2, and Ventilator.
His performance in the hit film 3 Idiots solidified his status as a beloved figure in Indian cinema, with his memorable line "Kehna Kya Chahte Ho" continuing to resonate on social media and in memes.
In addition to his film work, Potdar made significant contributions to television, appearing in popular series such as 'Wagle Ki Duniya', 'Majha Hoshil Na', 'Mrs Tendulkar', and 'Bharat Ki Khoj'.
